We caught up with the multi-talented Adrienne Cowan, vocalist of Seven Spires, on MetalGodZradiO for a chill, caffeine-fueled convo about everything from her favorite brew to the deeper meaning behind their new concept album, Gods of Debauchery. What followed was a heartfelt and hilarious exchange about touring, music video chaos, and yes—even corsets designed for chaos.
"Hi, I'm Adrienne from Seven Spires, and I'm blowing it up on MetalGodZradiO"
Nailed it on the first try. Adrienne’s warm charisma and quick wit immediately made for one of the smoothest drops we’ve had. “It usually takes me five tries,” she laughs, but she crushed it in one.
From there, we slid right into movie bloopers, favorite flicks (Labyrinth and the Snyder Cut of Justice League), and nerded out over animated gag reels.
Caffeine and Discord: A Metal Morning Routine
First thing in the morning? No, not coffee. Adrienne starts her day by checking in with fans via Discord before grabbing her first cup of the good stuff. Lately, she’s been vibing with hazelnut drip coffee and a little creamer. “I used to drink black espresso to feel cool,” she jokes, “but now I just drink what tastes good.”
Coffee isn't just a fuel—it’s a ritual. And yeah, she's even cool with decaf.
“A little bit like bad methamphetamine…”
Too much coffee? Yeah, we’ve all been there. Adrienne admits to having a bit of a caffeine problem that’s lasted, oh, 14 years or so. “Every few years I try to go cold turkey,” she says, laughing. “It’s hard.”
Maiden, Tours, and Melancholy Mastery
She hasn’t had a chance to sit down with the new Iron Maiden album yet (totally understandable when you’re promoting your own), but she's got plans to. As for touring, fans were bummed when the Seven Spires tour with Battle Beast and Amaranthe was canceled—but there’s hope it may return.
“I think there’s still a lot of interest in making it happen again,” Adrienne shares. “I was really looking forward to dancing in the pit every night!”
She also reminisces about duetting on Drop Dead Cynical with Amaranthe and singing in Avantasia and other projects with “a billion vocalists.” Safe to say—she’s no stranger to the stage or collaboration.
Behind the Scenes of "The Unforgotten Name"
The video for The Unforgotten Name, featuring Jon Pyres, showcases both visual depth and emotional grit. “It’s as raw and refined as it needs to be,” Adrienne says, praising Jon’s “mastery of melancholy.” While she’s not always a fan of music video shoots (cue: fog machines, aching backs, freezing rain), this one was different.
“I was just so happy to be making art with my friends,” she says. “None of the usual annoyances seemed to matter.”
Metal Fashion: Corsets, Custom Stands & Creative Armor
For the Gods of Debauchery videos, Adrienne rocked a gold corset crafted by Mozar Corey and Contour, known for designing looks for badass women in metal like Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) and Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast). “It looks like armor,” Adrienne says proudly. “It’s brutal, feminine, and beautiful.”
While she hasn’t had full tour wardrobes created just yet, she did design a custom mic stand—complete with a gold female figurehead and a ram’s skull. “It’s very us,” she adds with a grin.
A Life of Music—and a Childhood Piano Duet
Adrienne’s passion for music runs deep. A Berklee College of Music graduate and vocal coach, she also studied music in England before that. She doesn’t just do music—she lives it.
Though her parents weren’t professional musicians, they were creative and supportive. Her mom was actually her first piano teacher. “I remember playing together when I was about 3 or 4,” she recalls. “She picked up the bass for a while, and we’d jam a little.”
The Story Continues: From Solveig to Gods of Debauchery
The latest Seven Spires release, Gods of Debauchery, is the final chapter in a sweeping trilogy. It follows 2020’s Emerald Seas and their debut Solveig (pronounced “Sill-vay,” in case you’re wondering).
The story follows an immortal sea captain turned psychopomp—burdened by the task of ferrying souls and haunted by a belief they don’t deserve happiness. “Very cheerful,” Adrienne deadpans, before diving into its philosophical depths.
The Art Behind the Album
The striking album art? That’s thanks to Finnish artist Tommi Väätäinen. Adrienne shared the emotional tone, concept sketches, and even elements from a gifted tarot deck as references. The result is an evocative, haunting visual that captures the album’s mythic scale and personal tragedy

From blistering vocals to boundless creativity, Adrienne Cowan is the real deal—a powerhouse in the symphonic metal world with a down-to-earth heart and razor-sharp mind.
